SLU Lady Billikens Host Arkansas Saturday

Abby-Stock-SLU-StJosephSaint Louis women’s soccer will conclude its spring exhibition season Saturday, April 28, by hosting Arkansas. First whistle at Robert R. Hermann Stadium is set for 5 p.m., and admission is free.

The Billikens are wrapping up their first spring under new head coach Kat Mertz, who came on board Feb. 3. Among SLU’s returning players are rising sophomore Abbey Stock and rising junior Jenny Hummert, the team’s top two goal scorers in 2011. Stock was named to the Atlantic 10 Conference All-Rookie team last fall.

Also back is rising senior goalkeeper Katie Walsh, who has registered 14 shutouts and a 1.14 goals against average during her two-year Saint Louis career while playing all but 45 minutes between the posts

The above comes from the SLU press release on the game. Walsh looked extremely good in the game against Mizzou two weeks ago and you can hear from Head Coach Kat Mertz in this post-game interview following that match. The Razorbacks include junior Jenn Fryrear a defender who played for St. Joseph’s Academy and St Louis Scott Gallagher where she won three straight state championships (2004-06). Jenn has started 19 of 28 games during her first two seasons with the team.
