Via SoccerEx – The English Premier League is reportedly considering the introduction of financial bonuses to clubs who develop more British youth players, as part of its new Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP).
The £320 million EPPP scheme was introduced this season as a means of improving the development of youngsters in English football. The process has already begun with the introduction of academy grading systems and the launch of the Premier League’s new Under-21 league. The EPPP aims to increase the number of British homegrown footballers in the English game, along with increasing training time, improving coaching standards and providing better measurement of each academy’s performance.
