An Update with Logan and Austin Panchot

Logan and Austin Panchot, SLSG Academy

Logan and Austin Panchot, SLSG Missouri Academy program

I sat down with the brothers Panchot, Logan and Austin, last week to get caught up on recent events. Both are members of the SLSG Missouri Academy program so I stopped by after a training session.

Logan, an eight grader (or 1998 in soccer speak) recently returned from the Tournament Delle Nazioni in Gradisca, Italy. He is one of three 1998 players on the U16 SLSG Academy team along with Taner Dogan and AJ Palazzolo (CBC).

His brother Austin (1996), a sophomre at Lafayette, is the leading scorer for the U16 SLSG Academy team but has been competing with the U18 squad during their push to grab a playoff spot.

Logan’s tournament experience came with the U.S. Under-15 Boys’ National Team, one of 19 players for the Tournament Delle Nazioni in Grandisca, Italy, from April 26 – May 6. All of the players in camp were born in 1998, with the exception of Malcolm Jones, Erik Palmer-Brown and Ben Swanson who were born in ’97 and are all current members of U.S. Soccer’s Residency Program. Fifteen of the 19 players called in for the tournament are currently on a Development Academy roster. Joshua Perez recently moved from Chivas USA Academy to Fiorentina in Italy.

I talked to Logan and Austin about these topics and you can hear our conversation on Soundcloud via the link below. Logan offers some interesting news on how his goals have changed since we talked last July (video on my YouTube channel) so it’s worth listening to the whole 10 minute conversation. If you are interested in seeing the brothers play, there is one home game remaining. The derby game between SLSG Missouri and SLSG Illinois will likely be played the week of June 3rd. I’ll have details once they become available.

If there are other topics you would like me to cover, leave a comment or use the contact form. I would also like to invite other Clubs to contact me about players and teams in their organization that deserve coverage.
