Parkway Soccer Showcase Streaming Four Games This Year

parkway-college-showcase-2014It’s almost game day for participants in the Parkway College Showcase. Some significant changes to the tournament this year. One of which is that will be on hand all weekend providing coverage.

Follow Parkway College Showcase and SoccerSTL on Twitter!

In addition to the move to the Lou Fusz Soccer Complex in Creve Coeur, there will also be live streaming of four matches on Friday evening.

Streaming features some very competitive games including Eureka facing off against Neuqua Valley. Neuqua Valley is ranked #5 in Chicago while Eureka, despite starting 2-2 should come in ranked in the Top 3 locally once @davidstlhss gets his first rankings completed.

Opening the broadcast schedule Friday will be Marquette vs Glendale. The Springfield squad visited Eureka last Saturday and left with a 1-0 victory on a 2nd half goal. The Falcon’s reached the Final 4 in 2012 and are led by KU Iowa State signee Kasey Opfer and GK Kindra Lierz (SEMO). Marquette opened against the Top 2 squads in the region in #2 Webster Groves and #1 St Joseph and lost to each 0-2. Led by Jr. Taylor Schneider (Illinois State) in the middle, it should be a tight match.

The third game will match a pair of local class 3 teams that both have very high aspirations. The #4 ranked Pattonville Pirates will face the #5 Nerinx Markers who opened their season with a 4-0 win over Visitation (#4 small school), a team that beat #1 (small) St Dominic (2-1 via PKs) prior to that. Pattonville, who lost Ashanti Carey for the season in mid-March, shook off an opening loss to Zumwalt South and have three shutout wins.

Ft Zumwalt South are deep into their schedule already with a 4-2 record, as they prepare for Belleville West in the nightcap. The Bulldogs strong start has them listed as a bubble team. The Maroons got off to a strong start with 3 wins before running into the Edwardsville Tigers Tuesday night. BW is ranked #5 in the Metro East poll put out by BND to Edwardsville #1.

All of the games can be streamed at NSCAA TV

UPDATE – Preview of Glendale, Nixa and Kickapoo and other Southwest Missouri teams

One of my favorite parts of the event are the College exhibition games. The games have several benefits, including bringing Coaches to the Tournament for scouting as well as offering a chance to see some teams who don’t otherwise make it to St Louis during the regular season. For the girls, a chance to see the difference in play across the different divisions should help during the recruiting phase.

This year the Mizzou Tigers feature in a match against Iowa State. Mizzou features IWA/Wipke alum Melanie Donaldson in the middle while the Cyclones have Eureka/Kolping alum Haley Albert and IWA’s Adalie Schmidt. The Evansville Aces, the other D1 program, has five local players on the roster including the sisters Dierkes, Caitie and Colleen (Nerinx), Kelli Moran (Kirkwood) along with Rosati-Kain alums Katy Kessler and Kady Dieringer. All underclassmen, they should see plenty of action unless injured. I don’t mean to neglect the other squads but I beg the need for some sleep before a pair of 12 hour days coming up.
