US Soccer Development Academy Finals Saturday

The semifinal field is set for the 2013-14 Development Academy Championships, which take place July 17 and 19 at U.S. Soccer’s National Training Center in Carson, California.

On Monday, the U-17/18 quarterfinal winners included first-year club Bethesda-Olney, FC Dallas, the Montreal Impact and Players Development Academy. Tuesday’s U-15/16 quarterfinal winners featured Chicago Magic PSG, the LA Galaxy and Strikers FC, while defending U-15/16 national champion Real Salt Lake AZ advanced on Wednesday. The Development Academy adjusted its postseason format to feature this knockout round stage for the first time in its seven seasons.

The Academy postseason continues with the semifinal stage on Thursday, July 17 for both age groups. At the U-15/16s, the LA Galaxy faces Chicago Magic PSG (4 p.m. PT) and Real Salt Lake AZ takes on Strikers FC (7 p.m.). The winners advance to U-15/16 title game at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, at StubHub Center (live broadcast on ussoccer.com). The semifinal losers will compete in a third-place game at 11 a.m. on July 19 at Vanole Field.

The U-17/18 semifinals feature Players Development Academy against FC Dallas (5 p.m. PT) and Bethesda-Olney takes on the Montreal Impact at 8 p.m. on July 17. The semifinal winners move on to the national championship at 7 p.m. on July 19 at StubHub Center (live broadcast on ussoccer.com). The semifinal losers play for third place at 11 a.m. on July 19 at Glenn “Mooch” Myernick Field.

The Academy Championships will be held in conjunction with the National Training Center Invitational, which runs July 14-18 and features the U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team, Australia, Bermuda and Chile. Each team plays three games at the NTC Invitational, and the July 18 match between the USA and Australia (7 p.m. PT) and the Bermuda-Chile game (4 p.m. PT) will be broadcast live on ussoccer.com.
