College exhibition season is in full swing and the SIUE Cougars are taking it seriously. Some high aspirations on campus this year and they are inviting the fans to get involved early and in a big way Friday night.
@SIUEMensSoccer will host Oakland in a exhibition game at 7pm at Korte Stadium in Edwardsville. There will be a large student crowd out thanks to some food and other giveaways, along with an effort by the @SIUE class of 2018 in setting a world record.
SIUE men’s soccer player Matt Polster, a senior from Las Vegas, is on the 2014 preseason watch list for the Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy, the highest individual award in intercollegiate men’s soccer. This marks the second consecutive season Polster has appeared on the prestigious list.
Add in the fact that there are eight players from the Metro area on the roster and you have the makings of a fine Friday night. I’ll be on hand, will you?
The regular season begins Labor Day weekend when the Cougars come home for a pair of games. They’ll host Virginia Tech on Friday August 29th and Tulsa on Sunday August 31st. Virginia Tech added DeSmet grad Pat Conroy this year, he transferred from SLU and should be available to play. Tulsa added Tony Doellefeld from SLUH and Kyle Daledovich from Helias Catholic.
