The National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced on Thursday the 2016 NSCAA NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s All-America Teams. McKendree University women’s soccer player Sydnee Carroll (Belleville West/Kolping Kicks SC) has been named to the All-American Second Team.
Earlier this season, she was named Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Offensive Player of the Year. Making her the first women’s soccer player to earn both a major award and be named to an All-GLVC team, being voted as a first-team honoree.
Carroll finished the 2016 campaign with 18 goals, 10 proving to be game-winners, which currently holds the Division II lead. The Sophomore also dished out five assists on the season collecting 41 points for the Bearcat offense. The Belleville News-Democrat also offers some High School background.
McKendree finished the 2016 season 17-5-1 overall while grabbing the program’s first GLVC Tournament title and claiming the first program win in the NCAA Tournament. McKendree Release
Grand Valley State University senior midfielder Marti Corby (Ada, Mich.) receives All-American recognition for a fourth consecutive year and is joined by Lee University senior midfielder Kinsey Cichowitz (Buena Vista, Colo.) as the only NCAA Division II players to be named First Team All-Americans for a third straight season.
This year’s 2016 NSCAA NCAA Division II All-America Teams feature a total of 70 players, who will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments at the NSCAA All-America Luncheon on January 14, 2017 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in conjunction with the 2017 NSCAA Convention.
