Alli Magaletta celebrates her game-winner vs Duke and Josh Sargent plays for U17 at WWT Soccer Park

If you’re inside today, as the weather might predict, I have a couple of suggestions.

At 4pm Josh Sargent (St. Dominic/SLSG) and his U17 teammates on the USYNT will face Brazil in the final game of the Nike Friendlies. The team is positioned to win this annual round-robin event with a draw or a win. Sargent opened the tournament with a hat-trick and an assist against Portugal while adding a pair of assists in the win against Turkey. He wore the captain’s armband in both matches and will likely do the same again this afternoon. Live stream at USsoccer.com and a game preview

At 5pm Alli Magaletta (St Joe/SLSG) and her West Virginia Mountaineers teammates face USC for the NCAA Division 1 National title. Alli joined the Mountaineers from Mizzou seven months ago and has started every game since, playing defensive midfield in front of ESPNW Player of the Year Kadeisha Buchanan (also a Canadian World Cup star). She got the game-winner against Duke in the quarterfinal a week ago, one of three goals – all game-winners – she has scored this season. You can see that most recent goal as part of an interview video below. Game broadcast on ESPNU and a WVU Preview

For comparison, here’s my interview with Alli following a game against Nerinx Hall three years ago (April 2013). Who did it better 🙂
