FC 1974 stormed back from a two goal deficit to win 3-2 today in Midwest Regional League play at the Missouri Rush Mother’s Day Tournament. Missouri Rush United scored 20 seconds into the second half for a 2-0 lead but were unable to stop Sydney Boudreau. The first words out of the Coaches mouth as the girls took the field to start the match were “watch 15” and it was prescient. Boudreau scored the hat-trick, the last coming in the final minute on a counter following a Rush corner kick. A long clearance, a sprint from the center circle, winning a 1v1 with the lone back as Rush failed to get back in a timely fashion and the finish.

Rush opened the scoring four minutes into the match as Kasey Neidhardt finished a nice buildup down the right side. They scored even more quickly in the second half as a run down the left and a centering pass found #13, who fought off a couple of challenges in the six yard box before putting the ball into the top right hand corner only 20 seconds in.
Boudreau is a handful, combining pace with very strong technical skills. Her first came as she won a foot race down the left side before converting to the far corner. The second was a group effort that she finished, following the play and picking up a loose ball on the edge of the six yard box. The game-winner, in the 69th minute (of a 70 minute game at this age group) was a counter as Rush had moved forward for a corner kick, taken by one of their center backs, and a long clearance made it a 1v1 with a lone defender that she capitalized on.
