The 2017 Summer Missouri State Cup wraps up today at the Lou Fusz Soccer Complex. There are nine finals (Girls 2003 and 2004, Boys 1998 – 2004) beginning at 8:00 am with the 2002 Boys and 2003 Girls. The 19/20U Women will play the final two matches in their round robin to determine the Region II participant in their age group.
The Age Group link takes you to the State Cup Standings page for the age group so you can see how teams got there. And check my Club feed for my earlier reports.
U13 GIRLS (2004)
Two brackets, eight teams in this age group. Sporting STL Red Devils finished 3-0 in group play, all by shutout (+6 GD) SLSG Elite 2004 had a similar result, sweeping the group, while only giving up a single goal in the final match against WC STL. (+9 GD)
FINAL – Sporting STL Red Devils 0-2 SLSG Elite
A pair of goals in the first half, with the wind, were the difference. Zoe Houston about six minutes in and then ’05 Mia Cornelius late as a goal kick was knocked down by the wind and a quickly slotted ball sent her in.

A game tied 1-1 in the final minute of regulation by Maya Jones goal for FCKC saw it reach 2-2 during the two OT periods (no golden goal here). Claire Nichols got the second for FCKC and Jones got the game-winner late in the 2nd OT

FCKC Forte Elite got a decisive 7-1 win against Sporting JB Marine Schneider in the final game of the three game round robin the women’s bracket played. They finished 3-0 with 10-1 GF/GA.
Lou Fusz Brinker and Sporting Columbia drew 2-2 in the final match to each finish with 1 point from the competition.
Three brackets with 12 teams for these first time participants. Note that the 13U Boys Finalist Will Advance to Regionals as a Wildcard along with the Champion.
FINAL – SLSG Pre-Academy 1-0 SLSG Elite (both qualify for Regionals due to Wildcard)
BOYS U14 (2003)
Three brackets, 12 teams with the three group winners and one wildcard advancing after group play. SLSG West are the defending champions (as U12’s), defeating Lou Fusz Phillips Red 4-2 last Summer.
FINAL – SLSG Elite vs KC Select Academy
Saturday, 2:00 pm on Lou Fusz #9
Three brackets, 12 teams. SLSG Elite 2002 are the defending champions, defeating Sporting JBM Mann 3-2.
FINAL – Sporting JBM Mann 1-2 SLSG Elite Sporting took the initial lead today via Braden Johnson, taking the 1-0 lead into halftime. Gallagher, with the wind slowly getting stronger, employed a long ball strategy throughout the match. It worked.
Devin Livingstone (#34, FZS) created the first with a run into the left side of the box. Initial shot parried, the ensuing scrum saw fellow front runner Adam Lucas (#14, Bayless) finish as he muscled it over the line.
Livingstone scored the game-winner with another long ball and run into the left side of the box. His shot to the far side was good wit seconds remaining in the 2nd OT.
Both teams are headed to the Region II tournament, with Sporting qualifying via the Midwest Regional League (MRL)

SLSG ELite 2002 Amlong are a brand new team from last year’s Champions but the boys finished 2nd in their group in the National League this Winter, qualifying as one of four teams from that competition for the National Tournament. That does not qualify them for Regionals, they would need to win State Cup in order to move on to that competition.
U16 BOYS (2001)
Three brackets, twelve teams. Sporting JB Marine Mann were champions (as U14’s) with a 3-0 win over SLSG Elite. The fourth straight year for Sporting in the Final, with titles as 13’s and 14’s, now 16’s with the calendar year change.
FINAL – Sporting JBM Mann 1-5 SLSG Elite

FINAL – Sporting STL McMahon Ford 3-1 SLSG Elite
From 1-1 at halftime, the Tommy Howe led squad added a pair in the second half for the medals yet again. Three I do believe.
Tom Howe has one helluva team. Sporting 3-1 vs Gallagher. Ouch!
