The 2017 Future Stars have all been notified and we are pleased to announce the two young men and ladies who will be honored at the Hall of Fame Induction ceremony on Thursday night October 19th 2017.
We acknowledge these individuals who are entering their senior year of High School for their success not only for their High School but their Club Teams. We do our best to not highlight one school in consecutive years, but how could the Hall of Fame not recognize Billy Hency from Rockwood Summit – The Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year, NSCAA All-American and Class 3 Player of the Year. Joining Billy is his club teammate Joey Spotanski from Zumwalt South who was selected as Class 3 All State Offensive Player of the Year. The two play for Tommy Howe on the Sporting STL McMahon Ford squad that just won it’s third straight Missouri State Cup title.
The Lady Future Stars are Emily Groark and Hannah Friedrich. Groark, from Incarnate Word, was named the Class 3 Region 2 Player of the Year. Friedrich, from Hazelwood West, who was selected Offensive Player of the Year Class 4 Region 1. Both were named to the NSCAA All-Midwest list this week, two of eight girls from the St. Louis region. Friedrich helped lead her AFA Fillies squad to the U18 State Cup title last November, defeating the FCKC Forte Elite squad that had been their nemesis the previous three years. The majority of the squad will return to the U18 title chase again this year as 2000 calendar year players. Of note, the FCKC Forte Elite team is headed to the USYSA National Tournament in two weeks, invited following their loss in the Region II Tournament two weeks ago to replace the Region IV champions who withdrew from the competition (too many girls already headed to college).
Groark just returned from the ECNL National Championships where her U17 team was one of four seeded teams after finishing undefeated during the regular season.
