|Thu Jul 13||9:00 AM||Mainland United Upper Township Futbol Club (NJ)||1-1 D|
|Fri Jul 14||7:00 AM||PDN Rush Sharks 2001 (TX-S)||2-1 W|
|Sat Jul 15||9:00 AM||Santos Laguna White (CA-S)||0-1 L|
|Sun Jul 16||7:30 AM||Championship vs Santos Laguna White (CA-S)|
THURSDAY – a goal in the 30th minute by guest player Carter Reiss, who arrived following the Region II ID Camp, gave Carotenuto the early lead. NJ tied the game, interrupted at least once by lightning, in the 2nd half.
FRIDAY – Carter Reiss got his 2nd goal in the tournament, opening the scoring when he headed in Co-Captain Matt Herr’s corner kick late in the first half. The game winner was scored from the spot by co-Captain Brian Riordan with five minutes remaining in regulation.
SATURDAY – You always need some luck in a tournament and Carotenuto got some today. Despite losing 0-1 to Santos Lagunas (CA-S) in their final group game, they advanced as Mainland United finished in a 3-3 draw to previously pointless PDN Rush. The Final Sunday will match Carotenuto with Santos Lagunas again as the top two teams. This is the same scenario the Lou Fusz Menendez Girls faced two years ago when they won their National title. Here’s for some more of that!
preview: the team faces Santos Laguna White (CA-S) who are tied with Lou Fusz at the top of the table with 4 points. The top two teams advance to the Final on Sunday. Mainland (NJ) sits just behind with two points with a pair of draws against both Lou Fusz and Santos. Mainland (NJ) face bottom of the table PDN (TX-S) and with a win would have five points. Goal Differential is very narrow, +1 for the top two and +0 for Mainland so the best bet for advancing to the Final Sunday is with a win.
