HOW IT HAPPENED
– Rockhurst attacked early, getting three shots off in a span of seconds in the opening three minutes with two being saved by freshman keeper Amber Hayes and one hitting the left post.
– Little scored the game’s only goal in the 34th minute when she picked up the loose ball and fired from 25 yards out, putting the ball over the goalie’s head.
– The Tritons had two opportunities in the second half to tack on insurance goals. Freshman Allysiah Belt drilled a shot from inside the 18 that was punched out by the Hawks’ keeper in the 50th minute, while six minutes later, freshman Emily Hanewinkel beat a defender and went one-on-one with the keeper, but her shot was stopped inside the box.
