Prior to Sunday’s contest WashU honored its 10 seniors, including #10 Mariana Alisio (Ladue Rams) who was accompanied by her parents and younger sister Caroline (Ladue/SLSG 2000 Bayern Munich). Alisio and her senior classmates currently have the fourth best record of any class in the program and are the defending national champions. Marianna appeared in all 24 games last year and was fifth on the team in points while leading the team in assists.
The game-winner came in the 14th minute, with senior Haili Adams breaking in alone after junior Emily Tolmer’s free kick just outside the Tartan’s box was misjudged, allowing Adams to break in alone as she picked up the ball, slotting to the far post after entering the box. She is the team’s leading goal scorer with nine for the season.
Carnegie Mellon improved to 9-2-2, 2-1-1 in the University Athletic Association (UAA), while WashU had its 27-game unbeaten streak snapped and dropped to 12-1-1, 3-1 in the UAA
