Blue Star Academy is an advanced technical training program within Lou Fusz Athletic that focuses on elite youth soccer development. The academy starts for boys and girls age 6–9 years old. Blue Star Academy is directed by former professional soccer players and coached by our staff who play (or recently played) collegiate soccer. The development path for our Blue Star player varies depending on the age groups, but focuses consistently on skill development and instilling proper techniques within our athletes while progressing into game play. Players will build a strong foundation to grow from as the learn the core necessities of the game. Blue Star is an INVITE ONLY program dedicated to teaching our young players the proper skills to achieve their full potential. Our U9 academy runs as a one year program, while our younger players will partake in a seasonal program.
Mike Ambersley is the Director of Player Development and Identification for Blue Star. He joined Lou Fusz SC following his retirement from a professional career that began when drafted by FC Dallas in 2006 following his graduation from Indiana, where he won an NCAA title in 2004. He was the first signing by Saint Louis FC in 2015, going on to make 53 appearances in his two seasons with STLFC. Ambersley’s final stats as a professional include: 200 appearances, 48 goals scored, and 29 assists provided. Read more about Mike in my interview with him last February.
It’s also the time of year for High School boys to make their final plans for the Club season. Lou Fusz Soccer is holding Tryouts November 13-17. Open to Boys born 1999-2003, click on the link provided for details.
