With the end of the College season, it’s time for the seniors to pursue the next level. I’ve gotten word about
four FIVE St. Louis Soccer Players who are participating in Pro Combines this week. Let me know if I’ve missed you by contacting Ole.
A pair of Rockhurst Hawks, fresh off of reaching the NCAA Division II College Cup the last three seasons, will begin play tomorrow in Michigan at the Capelli Sport Midwest Pro Combine. Forward KALEB JACKSON and defensive midfielder CONNOR MULLEN are in attendance at this event.
In Las Vegas, JACOB LEEKER (Memphis Tigers) along with a pair of Wisconsin Badgers – MARK SEGBERS and TOM BARLOW, are participating in an event this weekend that includes five Major League Soccer teams – LA Galaxy, Seattle Sounders, Columbus Crew, Houston Dynamo and Toronto FC – as well as hosts Las Vegas Lights, a new United Soccer League (USL) team that begins play in 2018.
I pulled a picture from the 2015 USYSA National Championships where Segbers (back row, 3rd from left), Jackson (back row, 3rd from right) and Mullen (front row, 1st on right), competed and reached the Final of the McGuire Cup with their SLSG U19 team. All have been teammates for the majority of their club career. Jackson and Mullen also competed together last year with AFC Ann Arbor in the NPSL.
The second annual Midwest Pro Soccer Combine will take place on Monday, December 18th & Tuesday, December 19th at the Legacy Center Sports Complex in Brighton, Michigan. The combine will accept the top professional prospects to play for two days in front of professional coaches, scouts and intermediaries from North America and abroad.
The class of 2016 already boasts 25 players who have signed with professional clubs in North America, 4 of which were selected in the MLS Draft. Based on the combine’s first year success, the 2017 event is expected to draw even more interest from top professional prospects, as professional clubs from MLS, NASL & USL look to form their 2018 rosters.
