Under Huneke’s watch, the Cougars advanced to the NCAA Tournament seven times, and were a national semifinalist in 2001 and 2005, as well as national runner-up in 2004. He mentored 14 All-Americans, 38 All-Region and 55 All-Conference honorees during the team’s tenure in the GLVC. Four Cougars also earned GLVC Player of the Year distinction in 1997, 2001, 2003, and 2005, in addition to his standouts garnering the 2006 GLVC Defensive Player of the Year and 2002 GLVC Freshman of the Year awards.
