The Granite City Warriors scored two goals in the final seven minutes on Friday to come back for a 2-1 win over the Cor Jesu Chargers. Down 0-1 at halftime, Granite City started pumping the ball forward. Senior forward Grace Neidhardt responded by beating a defender and turning the corner at the endline, moving towards the goal before putting a square ball through the six yard box. Sophomore midfielder Rian Hutson met the ball near the back post to tie the game in the 73rd minute.

The game-winner came with three minutes remaining. A corner kick by Lexi Grote was steered to the near post where it looked like some miscommunication led to a bobbled ball and freshman Callie Kirksey, new to the varsity roster, was there to poke the ball across the line.
SATURDAY UPDATE – the Warriors got a goal from sophomore Megan Jones (#4) in the first half and held on to give Nerinx Hall their first loss of the year, 1-0.
