Sporting Club, the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Children’s Mercy Kansas City will host a groundbreaking ceremony this Sunday for the US Soccer National Training and Coaching Development Center in Kansas City, Kansas. The ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. CT at 9677 Parallel Parkway, half a mile east of I-435 (just 10 minutes Northeast of Children’s Mercy (Sporting) Park).
The following individuals will speak at the event:
Robb Heineman, Sporting Club CEO
Mark Holland, Mayor/CEO of the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas
Dan Flynn, US Soccer CEO/Secretary General
Sam Brownback, Governor of the State of Kansas
Children’s Mercy Hospital, Speaker TBD
The facility was first announced in 2014. The development will house the National Training and Coaching Development Center, an elite athlete training and performance analytics campus and national youth soccer development programs. According to the Kansas City Star in an article announcing the completion of Wyandotte County funding authorization, US Soccer has agreed to a twenty year lease.
