Kansas City here we come! Two MCC programs have punched their ticket to represent St. Louis in the Class 3 semi-finals, but first here’s a rundown of this past week’s matches:
CBC – the Cadets hosted Lafayette on Tuesday and came away with a hard-fought 2-1 victory (goals by LJ Adewumni and Chris McArthur). Advancing to the quarterfinals, CBC took on MCC rival Vianney on Saturday evening in front a strong crowd and advanced to Kansas City with a 3-2 victory (goals by Craig McLaurine, Dave Geerling and Jake Meyerkord). Chaminade – the Red Devils took on Oakville on Tuesday and controlled play with a 3-0 victory (goals by Jordan Bay, Jason Pesek and Tommy Barlow; shutout by Eric Fletcher) before heading to Francis Howell Central to take on the Vikings on Saturday afternoon. Chaminade’s offense kicked in the second half as they defeated the Spartans 2-0 (goals by Jason Pesek and Tommy Barlow; shutout by Eric Fletcher).
Vianney – the Griffins hosted Fort Zumwalt North on Tuesday and jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead before cruising to a 9-1 victory (goals by Mike Albes, Will Brockmeyer, Joey Delbert, Kevin Dvorak, Derek Enderle, Brandon Love, Adam Michel, Ryan Murphy and Hayden Sparrow). The Griffins then faced the Cadets for the chance to go to the Final Four in Kansas City next weekend and came up just short in a 3-2 defeat (goals by Adam Michel). The Griffins finish the season at 17-11-1.
In the semi-finals at Blue Springs South High School in Kansas City on Friday, CBC will take on Rockhurst at 4:00PM while Chaminade battles Columbia Rock Bridge at 6:00PM. The winners will play in the state final at 4:00PM on Saturday, and the third place match will be at 10:00AM.
In the most recent rankings, the NSCAA has Chaminade ranked #5 nationally and #1 in Region VII, while CBC is ranked #10 in the region. The Elite Soccer Report rankings have Chaminade at #18 nationally.
