Missouri Sends Six to Region II Soccer Semifinals

Six squads (five girls, one boys) qualified for the Region II Semifinals that begin Tuesday.

Under-14 Girls – Futura Academy Forte – after finishing tied 1-1, the girls lost in penalty kicks Tuesday

Under-16 Girls – Futura FC Academy Premier – WIN 1-0 and advance to the Final at 8am Wednesday against #5 NSA Jaguars.

Under-17 Girls – SLSG Premier Navy – lost 1-4

Under-18 Boys – Springfield SC (SC) – WIN 1-0, on a set piece goal in the final 5 minutes to defeat Raiders FC (Lemont, IL). They advance to the Final vs #11 regionally-ranked Grand Rapids Crew at 10 am Wednesday.

Under-18 Girls – Lou Fusz SC Wipke – after finishing tied 2-2, the game went to PK’s and finished in FC United’s (IL) favor

Under-19 Girls – Kolping Kicks SC Schmitt – WON 3-1. The ladies took a 2-1 lead into halftime, scoring the first two on the day. Their first came following a throw-in by Nicole Breece, finished by Sammy Dunda.

SCHEDULE/RESULTS
Under-13 Boys – SLSG Arsenal
Arsenal opened with a 2-0 win over CSA Academy (NE) before losing to eventual group winner Raiders FC (IL) by a narrow 0-1 margin. They finished with a 1-0 over KHA U13 Boys Red (KY) today. Thus the team went 2-1 on their first trip to Regionals, scoring 3 and giving up only 1 goal.

Under-13 Girls – Futura FC Pink Panthers
The girls finished 1-1-1, opening with a 1-1 tie with group winner Carmel United (IN), a 1-0 loss to Waukesha (WI) before closing with a 6-1 win today over DASC Black (SD).

Under-14 Boys – McMahon Ford Stauder
The opened with a 1-1 tie against SC Academy Inter 99 (MN), followed by a pair of losses. They lost 2-3 to Lexington FC 99 White (KY) and then 1-3 to Michigan Wolves 99 (MI) who advanced out of the group. The team scored in every game in their first trip to Regionals but finished bottom of the group.

Under-14 Girls – Futura Academy Forte – SEMIFINALIST
The team opened with a win over neighbor Sporting BV (KS) and then tied 1-1 with Alliance Black (MI). A resounding 5-0 win against Rapid City SWAT (SD) earned them the group win over Alliance via GD, +7 to +5. They face the #1 regionally-ranked NSA Rockets (IL) in their semifinal at 10am Tuesday. Futura are ranked #35 regionally.

Under-14 Girls – JB Marine Schneider
Opening with a 3-0 win over JUSC Premier (IA), the girls lost 0-2 to eventual group winner Libertyville FC 1974 (IL) on Sunday. They came back with a 1-0 win over SC Waukesha (WI) which allowed them to finish second in the group as the top 3 all had identical 2-1-0 records. Goal differential of +5 versus +2 separated them from advancing.

Under-15 Boys – SLSG Premier
The boys opened with a 0-6 loss to MN Thunder Academy 98 Blue (MN) followed by a 0-8 loss to group winner Alliance 98 Black (MI) (MRL2). They finished with a 4-0 win over DASC U15B Black (SD) to send them home on a very positive note.

Under-15 Girls – SLSG Premier
An opening day 0-4 loss to eventual group winners Ambassadors FC (OH-N) was followed by a 3-0 over Alliance Speed (IA). Mondays 0-1 loss to OFC 97/98 Elite 1 (NE) pushed them to 3rd in the group.

Under-16 Boys – SLSG Premier Green
The boys lost 0-1 to Sporting Blue Valley NPL (KS), were shutout 0-3 by St. Croix Academy U16 (MN) but fought back to score on Monday, before losing 1-3 to the Group winning Grand Rapids Crew Jrs (MI) (MRL2).

Under-16 Boys – SLSG Premier White (WC)
An opening 0-5 loss to eventual group winner Alliance 97 Boys Black (MI) was followed by an 0-2 loss to Fever 97B Black (IN). They finished with a scoreless draw vs Lexington FC 97 Boys White (KY), earning a point.

Under-16 Girls – Futura FC Academy Premier – SEMIFINALIST
An opening day scoreless draw with Cleveland United (OH) was followed by a pair of wins. 3-1 Sunday over LSC EGA Maroon (NE) and 7-0 over Rushmore SC Revolution (SD). The #3 regionally-ranked Futura face #18 Cleveland FC (OH-N) (MRL2) in the semifinal Tuesday at 8am.

Under-17 Boys – Futura FC Academy
Opened with a 5-1 loss to eventual group winner SC Waukesha Blue (WI). The earned a point with a 2-2 tie against OFC Elite (NE) before falling 3-1 to Rovers Academy (KY).

Under-17 Girls – SLSG Premier Navy – SEMIFINALIST
The girls earned the maximum 9 points with three wins, opening with a 4-0 shutout of DASC Black (SD), a 4-2 win over St Croix Academy (MN) and finished with a 2-1 win over Zionsville Select (IN). 10 goals for, 3 allowed. They’ll face Iowa City Alliance – Heatwave (IA) who are ranked #47th in the region, at 10am Tuesday in the semifinal. SLSG are ranked #6.

Under-17 Girls – Sporting BV Supersport
Opened with a 1-6 loss to group winner Cleveland United (OH-N) followed by a 2-0 win over OFC Elite (NE) to earn 3 points. A final day loss by 5-0 to KHA Red (OH-S) finishes Regional play for the girls.

Under-18 Boys – Springfield SC (SC) – SEMIFINALIST
Three wins for the squad who returned to regionals after their first title as U16 Boys. A 2-0 win over Omaha FC (NE) was followed by a 3-0 shutout of Blast FC (OH-S). Having already qualified, they lost 3-4 to Carmel United (IN) who finished bottom of the group. The boys will play #1 regionally-ranked Raiders FC Premier (IL) at 8am Tuesday. Springfield is ranked #9.

Under-18 Girls – Lou Fusz SC Wipke – SEMIFINALIST
The girls opened with a 6-0 win over LSC EGA Maroon U18 (NE) and followed that up with a 5-1 win over Cleveland FC U18 Girls (OH-N). A 4-1 rain-delayed win over Minnesota Thunder Academy 95 (MN) completed their run. They advance to the semifinals where they face #3 regionally FC United Select, a team they lost to in December 2012 during MRL play by a 4-2 margin. Wipke are ranked #2.

Under-19 Boys – SLSG Gold
Opened with a 4-1 win over DASC Black (SD) followed by a 2-0 win over St. Croix Rossoneri (MN). A 1-3 loss to Javanon 94 (KY) today determined the group winner.

Under-19 Girls – Kolping Kicks SC Schmitt – SEMIFINALIST
Three straight wins send the girls to the semifinals. They won 1-0 vs Grand Rapids Crew Juniors (MI), 3-2 over Eclipse Select (IL) and 2-0 over KPSL Heat 93/94 (KS). They face Pacesetter Premier (OH-N) at noon Tuesday. One of six teams ranked #6 regionally, they’ll face our #3 ranked girls.

Regional winners of the Under-13 through Under-19 age groups earn a berth to the 2013 US Youth Soccer National Championships, presented by the National Guard, July 23-28, at Overland Park Soccer Complex in Overland Park, Kan. One of the 14 national crowns awarded is the James P. McGuire Cup, the oldest trophy in youth sport dating back to 1935 with the inaugural youth championships.
