2016 US Youth Soccer ODP Region II ID Camp

2016-07-12 by Ole

Region-II-ODP-Boys-2001

Missouri 2001 boys at Region II ODP include Max Brennan, Kyle Klumpp, Luke Eckenrod, Joshua Johansen, Rowan Laufer and Carter Reiss on July 10, 2016 by C Reiss

The Region II ODP ID Camps are underway at Saginaw Valley State University in Saginaw, MI. The boys participated July 5-9 and the Girls begin today, July 12 through July 16. Following the completion of these events, a subset of players will be invited to participate on the Region II ODP teams with events such as the Thanksgiving Inter-Regional event that has Region II competing against teams from Region 1, 2 and 4. There was also an international trip to Costa Rica for one age group.

Thanks to Carter Reiss of Lou Fusz SC who provided the picture of the 2001’s. He’s on the right. Check out his HUDL for more on the young man and his game that has been part of the Missouri ODP program for at least three years now.

In the past, there would be a Holdover Camp that occurred immediately following the ID Camp which would entail more games. I believe that has been eliminated this year as it was a difficult process for parents and kids to manage, arranging to stay on beyond the time allotted for the ID Camp. There should be an announcement of the Region II teams following the Girls Camp this week. That story will follow when the details are announced. UPDATED

The boys above were named to the Region II Holdover squad, making them eligible for future Region II ODP opportunities. Formal announcement of the teams coming in Septembe per Carter.

Questions about the Olympic Development Program (ODP)? Check out the video below and visit the Missouri Youth Soccer Association website dedicated to ODP. Registration for the 2016/2017 is underway and is open for all boys and girls with birth dates in the calendar years of 2000-2005. And here’s a Regional Coaches perspective on why ODP is important odp_yes_no
