I had the opportunity to meet with Scott McDoniel and Steve Pecher today at the World Wide Technology Soccer Park. They were kind enough to sit down with me and offer an update on their plans for the upcoming year and beyond. We talked about the Calendar Year mandate, Missouri State Cup, the ECNL and the US Soccer Girls Academy role within the Girls Program at St. Louis Scott Gallagher SC.
The Club has put a renewed focus on competing in the Missouri State Cup tournament and locally, adding teams to the SLYSA League as a result. All Premier Teams (the second tier, after Elite in Club vernacular) will also be playing in the Midwest Regional League.
Good luck to all the boys teams in state cup finals today!

As for the US Soccer Girls Academy program, Pecher indicates in the video above that no application was submitted for participation. The Club is committed to the ECNL and the competition and recruiting results they have achieved via the League. That means we can expect to see the girls continue to play for their High School teams.
Note on the US Soccer Girls Academy program – The program will feature three combined age groups: U-14/15, U-16/17 and U-18/19. Clubs will be expected to train a minimum of four times per week. The combined age groups will require clubs to form teams with a balanced roster of players from two distinct birth years and encourage clubs to provide “play up” opportunities. The games will be scouted by U.S. Soccer and the program will serve as the primary pathway to U.S. Soccer’s Youth National Teams.
