The Missouri High School Soccer Coaches Association (MSHSSCA) have released their Second regular season poll of the season.
The Angels continue to hold Coaches in thrall although dropping a pair of first place votes. They beat Cor Jesu 3-2 yesterday, prior to the vote and will face #2 Nerinx on Monday. The Marker’s shutout Collinsville yesterday 2-0 and have the Webster Groves Derby in front of them on Saturday (noon). Lee’s Summit North lost to St. Teresa’s yesterday 0-2 as the Star’s continue to work their way back up the table.
|1||St. Joseph's (7)||9-2||106||1|
|2||Nerinx Hall (4)||10-1||98||3|
|3||Lee's Summit North||7-2||82||5|
|5||Lee's Summit West||8-2||64||9|
|9||Blue Springs South||8-3||17||2|
Others: Kickapoo 14, Zumwalt West 10, Ozark 5, Troy 4, Cor Jesu 3, Lee’s Summit 2
The State Champions open the season atop the poll while Summit fell to Webster Groves in OT on Monday, likely reflected in this poll. IWA lost to Visitation yesterday and Nerinx last week and will face St. Teresa tomorrow if rain doesn’t cancel the match.
|1||Notre Dame de Sion (8)||10-0||93||1|
|2||Webster Groves (2)||10-0||88||3|
Others: Villa Duchesne 9, Washington 6
Voters are underestimating the defending champion Duchesne Pioneers early but that’s OK. The Warriors of St. Charles West have a fine start under their belt, still with only the loss to Class 3 Zumwalt South in late March blemishing their record. They’ll face likely Quarterfinal foe Duchesne on May 1st.
|1||St. Charles West (8)||8-1||112||1|
|2||Springfield Catholic (2)||10-2-1||106||1|
|3||Cape Notre Dame (1)||10-0||92||3|
|4||Pembroke Hill (2)||9-2||83||8|
Others: St. Pius (KC) 8, St. Pius (Festus) 6, Lutheran SC 5, StL Notre Dame 3, Bishop DuBourg 2, Maryville 1
Summit Christian lost to Trinity in the State semifinals last June, when Saxony went on to win the title for the second straight year (after Duchesne moved up to Class 2 in the new four class alignment). The usual suspects abound. Summit saw player Kassi Ginther set a new Missouri career scoring record in their win over Burlington (IA) on Friday.
|1||Summit Christian (10)||13-1||50||1|
|5||St Paul Lutheran||6-1||12||nr|
Others: Trinity 6, Principia 3, Brentwood 2, Crocker 1, Bishop LeBlond 1
