Time for my second weekly College Soccer update. Lot’s of good stuff to share and still only a fraction I’m certain. Some highlights, besides the home games listed below, including a nice group of L&C Trailblazers players finding new homes at four year programs, some news on moves and a pair of Sun Belt preseason All-Conference picks (yeah Viz and St. Joe!) highlight the report.
Check out last week’s report on the two area players who are on the NCAA D1 preseason #1 squads (men & women) among other reports.

Some administration – Check out my College Page where I’m using a new database to track college players. If you are a College Player, you can submit your information (or provide updates) via a Form. Share stories and awards with me so that I can share it with the fans of this site.
Note that ALL of the local college programs, from D1 to NJCAA, are part of my St. Louis Soccer calendar. Women’s games are coded Pink/Red and Men’s are Blue. Also included are High School games (orange) and Club games (green). One place to find all of the local action!
Sarah Price (Visitation) has been named to the First-Team All-Sun Belt Conference Preseason Team. A red-shirt senior, Price started 15 of the 17 games she played in last year, racking up 1388 minutes, 18 points, 8 goals, 2 assists, and 16 shots on goal. Her 6 goals in conference play were tied for first last season, while she averaged just over 1.20 goals per game. Her 3 game winning goals, which led the team, came against Winthrop, Kennesaw State, and Arkansas State.
Madison Meador (Marquette) has transferred from Ole Miss to Kansas. Meador started 18 matches at Ole Miss and ranked fifth on the team and first among newcomers in minutes played. The Jayhawks have been picked #2 in the preseason Big 12 poll just behind Alli Magaletta’s West VA Mountaineers and ahead of Davis and Wickenheiser’s #4 Texas Tech. The photo is from her Junior year as the Mustangs defeated Lafayette in the District title match.
Lewis and Clark Community College is such a great place to start out your athletic and academic career. These players have all received scholarships to play at the next level. Pictured from left to right are: Kyleigh Kristensen-Lindenwood University-St. Charles; Tayler Andert- UMSL; Jane Skaggs- McKendree University; Alexis Norton-UMSL; Nic Farris- Carthage University; Markell Saddler- University of Illinois-Chicago; Brendan Mann- Columbia College; Nick Harper-UMSL. NOT PICTURED: Ryan Meskell- University of Hawaii; Blake Cearns- IPFW; Lochlan Reus-Columbia College; Nick Filla- Columbia College
Kirsten Davis opened her college account in her first game, a 2-0 win in an exhibition match against Denver. As I suggested last week Wickenheiser to Davis could become a thing at Texas Tech. Davis, a highly-decorated forward out of St. Louis, Missouri, corralled a pass from Carly Wickenheiser to notch the first Red Raiders goal in the 12th minute. See it below.

Eric McWoods (Kirkwood & Lou Fusz Pike) returned to St. Louis with his UMKC teammates and scored 2 and assisted on the other as the ‘roos won 3-0 in a Sunday exhibition match at SLU.
As predicted, freshman Logan Panchot was in the starting lineup for the defending National Champions Stanford Cardinals as they opened preseason with a 3-0 win.
Sloane Carlson (Cor Jesu) and Hailey VanDerLeest (Nerinx Hall) return for their junior and sophomore (redshirt) season respectively at Marquette. The Anonymous Eagle blog takes a look at the returnees.
The Arkansas State Red Wolves open their season Friday and the match against Missouri State will be broadcast on ESPN3 begining at 7pm. Arkansas State includes NINE area players, including All-American GK Megan McClure (Webster Groves), the dynamic duo Victoria MacIntosh and Sarah Sodoma (both Parkway South) and now has more former Lou Fusz Wipke players than Rockhurst with the addition of Riley Ebenroth (St. Dominic) who has joined the team from Illinois State as a junior, following her former Wipke and Illinois State teammate Taylor Schneider (Lafayette) in making the move South. Hailey Schue (Lafayette) rounds out the Wipke crowd. The team is led by Jr. Goalkeeper Kelsey Ponder who was named to the 2017 Sun Belt Preseason All-Conference team.
For Missouri State, the roster includes FIVE area players. Joining the squad this season are Jacqueline Baetz (Webster Groves) and Anna Durnin (Ft. Zumwalt North), both key on-field leaders for their high school teams with Baetz a critical cog in the Statesmen State title run this Spring. Juniors Sara Sabo (Lutheran South) and Kassie Flynn (St. Joe, a transfer from Arkansas State last year) and Sophomores Brittany Robinson (Eureka) are the other area players.

The Drury Panthers just returned from a training/cultural trip to the UK. Team includes seven area players although no freshman.
The Oklahoma State Cowgirls beat Mizzou 1-0 Saturday in a preseason game. Here’s a preview of the Big 12 team that 1) is chasing a Conference title and next year 2) will add two-time All-American Anna Lawler. The same lass named All-Metro player of the year in 2016 by ignored by the P-D in 2017, while being named an All-American for the second consecutive season. Keep that in mind this year when rankings come out.
Fontbonne has named Donnie Alberty as the new Men’s Head Coach. Alberty was the Head Coach at St. Charles CC the last two years.
For two area lads – Seniors Mark Segbers (Vianney) and Tom Barlow (Chaminade) and – the polls have the Wisconsin Badgers at #3 in the B1G (Big Ten)
