The DeSmet Spartans (3-1-0) got their third win of the season Saturday against Francis Howell Central. Senior midfielder Matt Lucas opened the scoring in the 4th minute as So. Nick Grewe sent him in and he scored from the right side, finding the far side netting. Sophomore Henry Lawlor finished from the top of the 18 in the 25th minute to extend the lead. The goal came as Grewe broke in alone and beat the keeper to the ball, moving to his left before sending a cross into the six yard box. The initial shot was blocked off the line but Lawlor picked up the loose ball and hit a low hard shot with the inside of his right foot, finding space despite the crowd in front of the net. The two lads are celebrating in the photo above.
