Major League Soccer has announced the rosters and match schedule for the 2018 adidas MLS Player Combine. One St. Louis area player is part of the 60 player list – Mark Segbers (Wisconsin/Vianney/STLFC Academy). He is #72, listed as a defender and a forward, and plays for Team Predator (Red) this week.
The players have been split up into four teams (Nemeziz, Predator, X and Tango) and each team will play three matches. The match days start on Saturday with the schedule calling for matches every other day. All matches will be played at Orlando City Stadium and they will be streamed on MLSsoccer.com.
Regarding Segbers identification as a defender and forward, this story on Goal.com provides some background.
A forward for much of his career at Wisconsin, Segbers is being seen now more as strong candidate to play as a right back in the pros, and the early feedback on the move has him looking like one of the top fullback options in the draft.
Saturday, Jan. 13 – Nemeziz vs. Predator STREAM
Monday, Jan. 15 – Predator vs. Tango
Wednesday, Jan. 17 – X vs. Predator
I’ve added all of the matches to my TV Calendar. You can also find the full rosters here along with the Generation Adidas list. The GA List are players who have signed with MLS and come out early – for example AJ Cochran left Wisconsin after his Junior season and signed with MLS, ultimately drafted by Houston.
Some photos of Mark that have appeared on my site, from his freshman year at Vianney to his SLSG MO Academy time and the Wisconsin match at SLU.
