In an early season match between the Collinsville Kahoks, who finished third, and the Falcons who finished second in Missouri in 2016 before losing to eventual Champion Webster Groves in the District Final last year, it was the Collinsville Kahoks who came out on top tonight.
Sophomore Faith Liljegren was very influential from her central midfield role. She carries the captain’s armband for a reason. The first goal came after she was knocked down 50 yards out, winning a 50-50 ball while showing a lot of courage going into the tackle.

The resulting free-kick was sent to the 6-yard box where Courtney Marten ran onto it and headed it over the goalkeeper in the 44th minute for the game-winner.
Midway through the second half the Kahoks got the insurance goal they needed. A through ball by Liljegren that senior Jalyn Richardson got to, winning a 50-50 ball with the goalkeeper before tapping into an open net.
More photos and commentary tomorrow. Time for me to head home.
