Lily Schneiders (SLU/Summit) in the attack for the SLSG MO 2001 ECNL squad in preparation for Nationals on June 13, 2018
There are 144 teams from around the country who will participate in the ECNL Play-Offs June 21-26, 2017 in Redmond, Washington in the top division, the ECNL Champions League National Tourney. These Qualifiers will be fighting to be crowned ECNL National Champions. Six SLSG ECNL Teams Chasing Hardware at National Playoffs
.
St. Louis Scott Gallagher Missouri sends all five teams to the Champions League Tournament, age groups U14-U18/19. They are joined at the tournament by the SLSG Illinois U14 team. It’s only the third time the Club has had a team qualify for the Champions League, after 2017 when the U15-U18 age groups qualified. They all return and are joined by the U14’s this year. I’ve got the schedule below (and in my St. Louis Soccer calendar) so that we can track the group’s progress this weekend. At the bottom of this post you’ll also find the team rosters.
.
There are 23 games that will be live streamed. Two will feature SLSG MO with the possibility of more depending on advancing in the playoffs. The U16 girls can be seen Saturday June 23rd at 2:00 pm when they take on the WNY Flash. The U17 girls play against Carolina Elite Academy on Monday June 25th, game time is 2:00 pm. All 23 have been added to my Soccer on TV calendar. Twitter followers always get game reminders.
Tournament play opens for the U18/U19 girls on Thursday, June 21. They will play three group games Thu-Sat. The group winners will advance to the Semifinals on Monday with the tournament title game on Tuesday.
The younger age groups – U14, U15, U16, U17 – will open play on Friday, June 22. They’ll play their group games Friday, Saturday and Monday. The group winners advance to the Quarterfinals on Tuesday. The winners then advance to the National Final Four, being held July 6-7 in Richmond, VA.

U18/19 (1999-2000)
SLSG offered this recent story on the team, who enter the National Finals as the #1 seed following an undefeated ECNL season. They are led by two-time Gatorade Missouri Player of the Year Anna Lawler (Summit) and includes 14 Division 1 players.
The class of 2018 was tabbed for greatness at the U15 level when they were the first SLSG team to qualify for the ECNL Champions League National Playoffs. After the birth year changes took effect at U17 level, the girls went undefeated for 25 games going into the ECNL Champions League National Playoffs and won the first Midwest Regional Conference title in 2016. As U18 players, the girls qualified with the 1998 birth year girls for the ECNL National Finals and finished the season ranked 5th in the country. This past year as U19 players, the girls won the Midwest Regional Conference title and finished the season 17-0-0 and will compete in the ECNL National Finals as the #1 seed.

A group that played the game in a manor that made everyone walk away with a smile on their face; including a very proud coach @ralphy06 https://t.co/1qsZho7Wbw— Ralph Richards (@SLSGMOECNL) June 24, 2018

U14 (2004)
The youngest groups participating, the Missouri girls enter as the #2 seed following a 12-0-2 season in the Midwest, including coming back from an 0-1 deficit for a 2-1 win in their final game of the season against their cross-river rivals in Illinois. SLSG Illinois enters as the 26th seed after finishing second behind MO in the Midwest standings with an 8-5-1 record.
Hannah Smith strikes me as the field general, the one setting the tone from the beginning. A stiff defense that includes Morgan Meador (yep, little sister) holding down the center flanked by Cecilia Morrow and Ellen Rimsky. In front of the back three Hailey Chambliss is the number 6 every team needs, protecting the defense and fully capable of launching the counter. She pairs with Paige Boeger and Zoe Houston. Across the middle four a group of seven rotate in regular and they are all technical and fast. That leaves it to Rylee Howard, and occasionally Smith when she moves up from right wing, to provide the finishing touch.

Carolina Rapids came through as did SLSG Missouri. A decisive win put them at 6 pts, ahead of Tennessee’s 4 but with Carolina scoring their first goal of the tournament to draw with Tennessee, who finished with 5 pts.
For Illinois, they finished third in their group with a win and two losses, scoring three goals and giving up four.
MONDAY Missouri faces Crossfire who are tied with Tennessee with four points, just ahead of MO’s 3. A win helps but they also need Carolina to win their first game of the tournament against Tennessee, a tall order. Illinois is second behind Sting Dallas and face a similar obstacle – the need for Atlanta Fire to score their first goals of the tournament and defeat Sting Dallas assuming SLSG defeats Match Fit, who also have yet to score.
SATURDAY roles reversed today as Illinois earned a narrow 1-0 win over Atlanta Fire while Missouri fell to Tennessee. Both teams.
FRIDAY Missouri opened with a solid 3-0 win. They face Tennessee Saturday, who drew 2-2 with Crossfire. Illinois scored a pair of goals but it wasn’t enough as they fell 2-3. They face Atlanta Saturday who played a scoreless draw with Match Fit.
Final 2-3. Goals by Jillian Nelson and MacKenzie James. Rest up and get ready for tomorrow.

U15 (2003)
The U15 girls, after narrowly missing out on a Champions League spot last year came out strong this year, earning the top seed in their group. The team finished 9-4-1 this season with a +28 GD. Kinley Brown, a right wing, is a key target while the midfield of Jillian Beck and Maci Teater drive the attack. Mackenzie Duff, fresh from helping anchor the Nerinx Hall Markers central defense this year as a freshman, helps hold down the central defense here as well.

Mon Jun 25 | 10:15 AM | SLSG MO vs Arsenal FC | 3-7 loss |
Tue Jun 26 | TBD | Quarterfinals |
The team finished third in their group, with a win and two losses. They scored six goals and gave up nine.
MONDAY ten goals in the final match of the season, only three for Missouri however as the girls finish 1-2
SATURDAY following a strong opening win, SLSG fell in a shutout to PDA
FRIDAY opener was a 3-0 win for the girls who sit atop the group after one day. They’ll face PDA Saturday who played a 1-1 draw with Arsenal.
U16 (2002)
The U16’s finished third in the Midwest Conference, with an 8-4-2 record and a +10 GD. I didn’t get to see them this year but a look at the roster shows Sara Sanabria (Holt) in goal while Emma Mueller, fresh from her freshman year anchoring the St. Joe Angel defense will continue those responsibilities in Redmond. The Cloud sisters, Hailey and Emma, helped the Union Wildcats reach the Class 3 Final Four this year. There are five players out injured, including a Anna Carollo, a favorite following her work for St. Joe, so the team only shows 14 on the roster I received a week ago. We’ll have to see how they hold up to three straight games. We can see their second game live, link to the stream below.

Sat Jun 23 | 2:00 PM | SLSG MO vs WNY Flash | 0-2 loss |
Mon Jun 25 | 4:15 PM | SLSG MO vs Arsenal FC | |
Tue Jun 26 | TBD | Quarterfinals |
MONDAY the girls are unable to win the group with one point while WNY Flash have already advanced as Arsenal, today’s foe for SLSG, would lose the head-to-head tiebreaker even with a win today.
SATURDAY’s LIVE STREAM of the girls loss to WNY Flash (Abby Wambach’s home club).
FRIDAY opened with a scoreless draw against FC Stars. They’ll face group leaders WNY Flash Saturday in a game that is being live streamed (link above). Critical match now.
U17 (2001)
The 17’s finished first in their Division this season, finishing 10-2-2 with a gaudy +34 GD. They also earned a top seed in their group and we’ll get to see their final group game on Monday via live stream.
The U17’s are anchored by Syndney Ernst in the central defense with Lindsay Origliasso and Madison Zermuehlen on the wings. Hannah Higgins and Anna Walsh put their experience in the Summit midfield on display in the defensive midfield, fronted by Lily Schneiders and Syndey Stephens (Waterloo) in the attack. Hannah Larson (Hickman) and Olivia Layton arer on the wing and Gretchen Skoglund is the target.

Tue Jun 26 | TBD | Quarterfinals |
MONDAY giving up goals in the 1st minute (24 seconds more specifically) and again in the 7th staked CESA to a 2-0 halftime lead. Best chance of the first half was Madi Zermuehlen’s header off a corner kick, down to the left corner but cleared by a defender. The girls came back to score in the 58th as Lily Schneider’s grabs a ball near the center circle and her second touch sends Skoglund in down the right touchline, before sending a square ball through the six yard box finished by Hannah Larson as she out-raced her defender.
SATURDAY Narrow 1-2 loss
FRIDAY shutout loss
Much better. Now 1-2 as Schneiders finds Skoglund down the right side and Larson finishes the square ball into the box in the 58th https://t.co/uzZE3ysxNP
