The 2018 US Youth Soccer Midwest Regional Championships open June 22nd at Grand Park Sports Complex in Westfield, Ind. The Midwest Regional Championships feature top teams in the 13U through 19U age groups, who qualify by either winning their State Cup Championship, or via National League and Midwest Regional League. Missouri has the seven State Champions competing as well as four teams that qualified via the alternate routes, one at U14 and three at the U19 age level meaning Missouri has a team in each of the four brackets this week. Eleven Missouri Boys Soccer Teams At Midwest Regional Championships
Games kick off with round robin games Friday, June 22, through Sunday, June 24. Following a day of rest, semifinal matches are Tuesday, June 26, and finals are Wednesday, June 27. Regional winners of the 13U through 19U age groups earn a berth to the 2018 US Youth Soccer National Championships, July 23-29, at the Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco, Texas. One of the 14 national crowns awarded is the James P. McGuire Cup, the oldest trophy in youth sports, dating back to 1935 with the inaugural youth championships.
Below you will find information on each of the teams – some comments of mine or that I share, the team schedule and results as well as a link to their team page at USYSA. FRIDAY: opened with a wild win (9 goals?!!) as Trent Dolson, Nick Grewe and Sam Rowan, with a hat-trick, outscore CUP for the win. CUP opened the scoring in the 10th minute, matched by Rowan in the 42nd. A trio of goals by Dolson, Grewe and then Rowan again gave them what seemed an insurmountable lead in the 72nd, but… CUP scored in the 78th and 90 minute to tie the match but Rowan finished his account for the day in stoppage time as well, giving the boys the win. WOW.
