As the Spring High School season in Missouri gets into full swing today, a brief note on another alternative in play again. Last year a majority of high school freshman on the U15 teams chose to continue their ECNL season rather than trying out for their High School programs. This year, the club has gone in a different direction, offering a High School team program that has the girls competing with boys teams within the club on a weekly basis as well as one College exhibition match with McKendree University. The team may attend one event in April in Chicago or Indy as part of their competition schedule.
Here’s a look at the schedule with text below 🙂

College recruits on this list include Lillie Fields, headed to UMKC as well as Katherine Houck to Oklahoma and Sydney Stephens to Georgia. No seniors are foregoing their final high school season but interestingly enough, Sydni Stevens has chosen to join the team after having a very strong run as a sophomore at Edwardsville last year (Top 5 scoring). Freshmen that would have contributed immediately to their High School team include Kinley Brown (one of four Howell players on the roster) and Maci Teater at Holt. There are also four eighth graders on the squad, all with the talent to play up as they are. We’ll miss them on the high school pitch this season but everyone’s development path can and should be unique to their needs.
