The Lafayette Lancers, hosting the Class 4 District 4 playoffs, opened quickly Monday when Sr. Matthew Kanan picked up a loose ball just outside the box and fired a shot past the keeper in the 4th minute of the match. That set off a celebration in front of the bench and helped send their new Coach, Ryan Butchart (a 2013 alum), to his first ever District playoff win and 18th total on the season.

Lafayette added a second midway through the second half when on a break, Jr. Captain Ben McInnes slipped a ball into Manson’s path and he finished as he entered the box.
While the second goal saw some slumped shoulders from Marquette they shook it off quickly and scored one of their own in the 70th minute. A direct kick by Sr. Samuel Weis from 35 (maybe farther) yards bounced in the six yard box and finished in the roof of the net, untouched by anyone else on the pitch. Samuel is #9, accepting congratulations.
The District Final is Wednesday at Lafayette where the Lancers will host CBC.
