St. Louis NWSL Soccer Update

With the completion of the 2020 NWSL College Draft, with one Missouri (KC) player chosen, how about an update on the players who are already a part of the league.

The 2020 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) regular season should begin mid-April although there is still a large vacuum when it comes to news about the schedule, TV rights, even who will run the league. This story from November, which talks about the possibility of new teams in the league for 2020 that didn’t pan out, nonetheless covers a lot of territory that is still relevant. Fans of the league should follow the writer, Kim McCauley @LGBTQFC. I’ve included her Draft thread at the bottom of this post discussing each player drafted.

Missouri had one player (of eight accepted) drafted, the #28 pick is a Lee’s Summit North alum who played at Kansas

Let's get the final round started!

With the 28th overall pick, @TheNCCourage drafts Addisyn Merrick. #NWSLDraft pic.twitter.com/8rzk1FgMza

28 – NC – Addisyn Merrick – D (CB) – Kansas

VALUE – B

Merrick's a solid center-back who adds depth here, but I question whether taking back-to-back CBs is wise.
