Congratulations to Sarah Luebbert who earned a start for the Chicago Red Stars today in their second game of the NWSL Challenge Cup. Luebbert, who is a Jeff City Jay and Mizzou soccer alum, wore #19 and earned some nice feedback from Head Coach Rory Dames.

Luebbert played 70 minutes before being subbed off. I’m not going to include the score here because instead I’m going to suggest you either stay up late or set your DVR for midnight tonight when the game will be re-broadcast on CBS Sports (221 on DirecTV).

There isn’t a lot of action photos from the game but I did find one. Check out this Game photo by -> ISI Photos of Sarah Luebbert.
Of note, while Sarah’s signing was first announced June 23rd when Chicago released their roster for the Challenge Cup, Sarah has confirmed that she signed a two-year contract. Much of what you might read about the Red Stars regarding the tournament is that the focus is on development, getting a look at the large roster that is allowed for the Cup and building the team for 2021. I’ll add some story links as they are released today and tomorrow.
June 23, 2020 Sarah signed for the NWSL Challenge Cup If you want to be one of the best dressed players in the area, may I suggest a Chicago Red Stars jersey? Represent both Sarah and Alyssa Mautz (Ft Zumwalt West) who has more caps for Chicago than any other player, going back to 2012 when the team played in the WPS.
Of note, Sarah has now earned a Page on my website. Check it out here.
