Ft. Zumwalt East Lions Win Fifth Straight Match

Sr. Jacob Groark advances the ball in the Lion’s 6-0 win over FHN in a GAC match on October 13, 2020

The Ft. Zumwalt Lions earned their fifth straight victory Tuesday evening with a 6-0 win over the Francis Howell North Knights. Three goals in each half led to the comprehensive win as the Lion’s evened their record at 7-7 with six games remaining before District playoffs begin October 31st. The match was the second in the GAC home-and-away series the teams play and the Lion’s won both games, 1-0 at FHN in mid-September and last nights shutout. They are tied with Washington for third in the six team Conference but more importantly, it looks like they should be very competitive in their Class 3 District 5 tournament that they will host this year. The winner will likely face Summit so it may be a short stay in the post-season but this is the strongest FZE team I can recall in my decade of covering the game locally and I think it would be their first District title in that time as well. Lot’s to play for these last two weeks. Ft. Zumwalt East Lions Win Fifth Straight Match

Here is a link to the full PHOTO GALLERY from the match. Photo sales are my only source of income to cover the costs of my efforts, your purchases help support my efforts and are appreciated.

I’ll have some game details later this evening, some family responsibilities to take care of first.

Strong performance by the boys tonight, 6-0 result over FHN. N. Massey with 2, M. Brophy with 2, C. Woodward and N. Myers each with 1. Dom Mrazik was stellar setting up a pair, linking play, and getting in behind. Back line was excellent, along with C. Pulido in goal. #HWPO
