FRIDAY
U16 Navy: An SLSG goal around the 10 min mark by #23 Haylie Chamblis, assisted by #10 Alivia Buxton, came after some good defensive work in the offensive end and Buxton’s dribbling (start at 10:30). An Independence free kick from 40 yards was flicked by Erin Connolly but collected at the far post by Charlotte, tying the game (start at 21:15) Independence took the lead in the 42nd as a series of throw-ins down the far side led to a cross into the six yard box and a nice header sent back to the near post (start at 43:25). A goal by Connolly in the 72nd minute (80 min match) drew Navy even. It came after a series of throw-ins on the far side culminating in #7 Zoe Houston’s run into the corner to collect and then cross to the edge of the six yard box. Connolly ran onto the ball and flicked it on. After #8 E Leigh knocked it down, Connolly finished from a scrum in the six yard box (start at 1 hr 14 min)
The team opened in a 4-4-2 which was a surprise to me after seeing how well their 4-2-3-1 worked in the derby game with Connolly in the 6 role where she set the tempo with her passing. The team did go to a diamond in the middle after giving up the 2nd half goal with Connolly in the 10 spot and Haylee Chamblis stepping into the 6 where she provided some much needed muscle to help blunt the Independence attack. Sarah Bozeman in goal on a day that saw wind gusts around 20 mph and temperatures in the low 60’s

December saw a 1-1-1 record with an opening win against Rebels SC before losing to Charlotte and drawing with Atlanta Fire at a South Carolina national weekend event.
2004 GA, Coach: Nicholas Walker
* a difficult season that includes the loss of three games mid-season due to COVID, the team drew Gretna before losing to KC Athletics in September, then drew against Hawks Magic before losing the Hawks in early October. Resuming play in in mid-November, losses to FC Wisconsin and SLSG Navy in the derby game was followed by a pair of draws in December against Challange SC and FC Alliance at the South Carolina event.
2002/2003 GA, Coach: Kelsey Dinges

SEASON SUMMARY (I’ll finish tonight, have a 6:30 pm webinar to participate in first)
2005 GA, Coach: Scott McDoniel
* with an undefeated record in Conference, the team has only dropped two points following a 3-3 draw in early October against the Michigan Hawks. The national event in South Carolina saw the team go 2-1 with the final game of the event, and the season thus far, a 1-3 loss to Real Colorado. They’ll look to get back to winning ways this weekend with the toughest game early Sunday morning against Florida Elite who are currently 3rd in the national rankings.
2004 GA, Coach: Scott McDoniel
* another squad competing for the Conference title, the team drew with the Michigan Hawks in early October and later with Vardar to end the month, otherwise winning the remaining Conference matches. The South Carolina weekend event opened with a 1-2 loss to Richmond United, the only blemish on the season. They went on to beat GSA and Atlanta Fire leading into this weekend. Their match Saturday against nationally ranked Solar SC will be the key marker for their season.
2002/2003 GA, Coach: Scott McDoniel
* a 1-2 loss to Eclipse Select in late October is the only blemish for the team as they sit atop the table currently but third in PPG as Eclipse and the MN Thunder were limited by COVID constraints in the Fall. None of the games this weekend are against teams who are Champions League Qualifiers (Navy is currently 11th of 16 spots available) so it should be a good weekend of competition for them to complete the regular season prior to the start of High School play.
