SIUE women’s soccer was taken down for the first time in the Spring 2021 season, falling on Friday night to Murray State, 2-1. Murray State opened up the scoring in the 26th minute, and held that lead into halftime. The Cougars came out of the locker room and pulled even in the second half after Lily Schnieders neatly slotted a penalty kick into the bottom right corner of the net in the 54th minute. However, the tie would hold for just under 20 minutes, as a defensive error gave Murray State’s Chloe Barnthouse a clear shot on goal to net the game-winner. SIU Edwardsville Falls to Murray State

From Murray State – Hailey Cole, the opening goal is her second of the season, while Barnthouse scored her team-leading fourth of the campaign as the two true freshmen have combined for six goals through eight matches.
