MSHSAA has released the new High School soccer classification and District soccer assignments for the upcoming Girls soccer season. Let’s take a look at some of the changes. Remember, this is the first year where the new Success Formula is applied for private schools rather than the previous enrollment multiplier. I offered a look earlier at some of the changes we might expect. New Missouri High School Girls Soccer District Assignments
Starting locally, St. Joseph Academy returns to Class 4 in District 3 with Nerinx Hall as well as Kirkwood and Parkway South.
In District 5, Incarnate Word is now a Class 4 program as anticipated although their District title winning streak looks like it should continue.
In District 7, St. Dominic joins Zumwalt North, West and Timberland. Looking down the road, a Quarterfinal match between them and Howell looks like a real possibility.
In District 1, Cape Notre Dame has moved up from Class 2
In District 3, Notre Dame now competes with Rockwood Summit, Webster Groves and Mehlville, moving up from Class 2
In District 4, Rosati-Kain will go against Ladue, Clayton and Gateway. The change here is the departure of St. Joe to Class 4.
In District 5, Villa Duchesne has moved up to Class 3 on the basis of enrollment.
In District 6, Trinity moves up a class and competes with Hazelwood East, McCluer and McCluer North.
In District 7, Duchesne now faces off against Liberty, Ft Zumwalt South and East, moving up from Class 2
In District 8, Borgia replaces St. Dominic in competing with Hannibal, Warrenton and Washington
In District 1, Saxony Lutheran and St. Vincent move up from Class ??
Biggest change is the move to only eight districts, now with seven teams each. Now that’s old school! Some of the biggest changes are reflected in the list of teams below that dropped down a class.
District 2 now includes DuBourg, MICDS, Principia, Ursuline and Westminster along with Affton and Bayless. MICDS, Ursuline and WCA all move down from Class 3. Principia must have moved up from Class 1 due to success factor although they aren’t listed in the 2019-2020 District lineup for some reason.
Still eight districts, now with five teams apiece. Moving down a classification are Lutheran South, Cardinal Ritter, John Burroughs and Lutheran St. Charles.
