Althoff got their second goal of the match in the 14th as they moved the ball up the left side and #2 cut inside. Kylie Petroski finished after the ball got knocked around in the box a bit. O’Neill got her second when she made a run from the center circle down the middle of the Panther defense before putting her shot just inside the upright. She completed her hat-trick a few minutes later. She attempted another long range shot later but the goalkeeper was prepared for her this time. In the 23rd she sent a diagonal ball to the right side in the path of Hope Schmitt’s run who took the ball in and finished well. Tori Calvert got in on the action then in the 25th minute as she went at the defense, used a little step over to get past her defender and slotted her shot inside the upright. How many is that so far? First half ended 8-0 and I understand that in Illinois after you reach seven the second half is reduced to 20 minutes. Althoff added two more goals for the final margin. Other goal scorers included Natalie Cohn and Tess Schmieder.
The Crusaders will host Columbia on Friday in the 1A Sectional Final at 5:30pm
