Alihodzic was selected with the 13th pick of the Third Round (54th overall) in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft and signed by S2 on March 9, 2016.

2016 March 9 – Emir Signs with Sounders FC2 of the United Soccer League
Alihodzic, 22, was an NSCAA Third Team All-West Region selection at Nebraska-Omaha after tallying four goals, including two game-winners, and two assists in 16 appearances as a senior. The St. Louis native started 60 of 65 appearances for the Mavericks in his collegiate career, twice receiving All-Summit League Second Team honors, in addition to being a 2014 Academic All-Summit League selection.

2016 February 9 – Sounders FC Fall to Celaya FC in final preseason Match
The remainder of the Seattle starters came off later in the second half, with Oalex Anderson and Andy Craven joining Morris at forward in front of Cristian Roldan, Zach Mathers and Emir Alihodzic in the midfield. Charlie Lyon replaced Stefan Frei in the 76th minute along with a new backline of Michael Nelson, Zach Scott, Damion Lowe and Dylan Remick.

2016 February 3 – Sounders kick off Preseason against Vancouver
A second match that day finished 1-0 Sounders over USL side FC Tucson. Alihodzic played the entire 45 minutes.

2016 January 19 – Sounders Draft Emir Alihodzic in 3rd Round of SuperDraft
The Sounders took Alihodzic with the 13th pick of the third round. A native of Bosnia, Alihodzic earned All-West Region Third Team honors during his senior year at Nebraska-Omaha. He appeared in 17 games during his senior year, scoring four goals and two assists. He was also named an All-Summit League Second Team selection.

COLLEGE EXPERIENCE

2015: Alihodzic appeared in 17 matches for Nebraska-Omaha, scoring four goals and adding two assists. His 31 shots ranked third on the roster. The midfielder / defender converted on each of his three penalty kick attempts. He earned All-West Region Third Team honors after leading the Mavericks to the Summit League semifinals for the first time in school history.

2014: As a junior, Alihodzic made 15 starts in 17 appearances. He scored his lone goal of the 2014 campaign against Belmont on September 7. He ranked third on the team with 1,371 minutes.

2013: In his sophomore campaign, Alihodzic started all 15 appearances as a defensive midfielder. He scored two goals on two penalty attempts – against Grand Canyon (August 30) and Milwaukee (October 2). Alihodzic recorded at least one shot on goal in nine fixtures, which tied for the team-high.

2012: After beginning the campaign at right back before the central midfielder midway through the season, Alihodzic started 14 of his 15 appearances. He recorded a goal and an assist on August 26 against Bellevue. In his freshman season, he paced the Mavericks with 30 shot attempts.

PERSONAL

The son of Latif and Hasa Alihodzic, he has one brother, Mujo. Alihodzic’s cousin, Fazlo, was his teammate in the midfield with the Mavericks.
