2020 Nov 18 ESPN writes about the Top 25 Under 23 USMNT Players. Josh is one of seven in Tier 1: The established stars.
It is no secret that the U.S. desperately needs a striker to emerge to replace the inconsistent Jozy Altidore, and young Sargent remains the best bet.

Seeing a lot of people write off Sargent. Think it's important to remember that strikers around his age in top 5 leagues are not that common and the ones that show well are superb talents or have low sample sizes. A little worried by last season but I'm confident he'll come good. pic.twitter.com/XUorkUbBcc

This Josh Sargent – the one that is working hard on every single play in attack and defense with a sharp mind – is way different than the Josh Sargent that moped when he didn’t get the ball. I don’t care that he didn’t finish that last chance, his attitude shows his growth https://t.co/ZrtXP3a2Qs

Josh Sargent with a quiet 60 minutes in his 1st Bundesliga start. Didn't manage any shots, though there wasn't much service his way. He completed 17 of 20 passes, made some good runs (his trademark), but there wasn't much in the game for him. Still a great sign he got the start

Josh Sargent in training with Werder Bremen U23’s, from Jan 6, 2018 interview on their website

2018 Jan 06 Interview with Josh on Werder website
With an unbelievable year behind you now, what has been the most unforgettable memory?
Joshua Sargent: “Oh, tough question. It would be impossible to choose just one. The U20s World Cup was exciting, I’ll never forget that. Leading the team out as captain at the U17 World Cup too, that was amazing. And, of course, I’m very proud of being chosen for the first team and receiving the award for best young player of the year. So there have been a lot of moments I’d call unforgettable (laughs).”

2017 Dec 21 – Named US Soccer Young Male Player of the Year

Led by a historic hat trick from Tim Weah, the USA rode a strong defensive performance in the first half and a breakout offensive display in the second to its second all-time win in the Knockout Round and first Quarterfinal appearance since 2005. Captain Josh Sargent and midfield maestro Andrew Carleton also scored for the USA, while Chris Durkin, James Sands and goalkeeper Justin Garces anchored a U.S. defense that recorded its third clean sheet in four games at the tournament as well as the USA’s first ever shutout in a Knockout Round game.

2017 June 1 – FIFA.com Sargent comes of age in Korea Republic
2017 May 31 – Sargent on TopDrawer POY short list
Among those players who’ve spent this season putting together impossible-to-miss resumes, Josh Sargent is perhaps head and shoulders above them all.

Sargent’s YNT season is without peer. He started the year, as he had before, as a member of the U17 MNT residency program in Bradenton, Fla. He started the year as a highly prized if slightly under-the-radar forward for the U17s, but that changed rapidly in U17 World Cup qualifying. He ultimately scored five goals in six qualifiers, which opened the door to a U20 World Cup call-up two weeks later. There, he scored three goals in his first two games. Doesn’t get much more diversely productive than that.

Sargent, the No. 1 player in the 2017 boys class, obviously doesn’t have the club resume this season because he hasn’t been with his SLSG club. The U17 residency program served as his club home all season, but his youth national team performances more than make up for that in the assessment process for the award. Sargent’s largely been tipped for a professional contract down the road, and the rumors insist that he’ll likely find a home somewhere in Germany once he turns 18 next year. Until then, Sargent remains perhaps the best USYNT prospect anywhere.

2017 May 22 – Josh Sargent is an American Revelation
Sargent was fast-tracked to this tournament because his talent demanded it, and Ramos duly started him because he’s the hottest USYNT player on form in the entire pool regardless of position. All he did was score twice, on the biggest YNT stage in the world, 13 days after finding out he’d even be included in the first place. So yes, Josh Sargent is a fairly big deal.

2015 August 18 – U15 BNT draw 3-3 with England

The U.S. found the net first. Kelee Cornfield-Saunders won the ball off of an England goal kick and quickly played it over to Josh Sargent (#9) at the top of the 18-yard box. Sargent made a nifty move to beat his defender and then ripped a shot into the upper right corner for the first goal of the game. Video below or Sargent’s first goal for the USMNT.
